Feel the change in your spirit as you leave the city behind and begin to climb into the mountains Northwest of Denver. Around each curve lay the anticipation of freedom, adventure and peace. Thirteen miles off the beaten path, skirting the Southeast side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park is Youth With A Mission's Eagle Rock Campus. Enter the driveway across from Kriley Pond and watched over by towering peaks and come to a place where God's Spirit has rule and reign.
Up the drive to the first building brings you to the Big House, a 6000 square foot administration, housing, teaching and recreation center. Here we enjoy a classroom with a home-like quality. Up to thirty students can be housed just steps from the classroom and family kitchen. The basement not only offers a snack bar, ping-pong and pool table but also serves our staff with administrative space. Here you can find both phones and internet access.
The bell rings for meal times and we all take the short walk to the Dining Hall. Upstairs this building features a modern, full-ndustrial kitchen and serving area, as well as a Dining Hall to seat upwards of one hundred people in old fashioned booths. A spacious area is filled with couches around a large friendly fireplace, perfect for after meal coco and coffee. The downstairs of the dining hall houses thirty people in dorm-like fashion, and also has two complete apartments with their own kitchens.
Overlooking both the Dining Hall and the Big House is the Lodge. This 10,000 square foot building currently under renovation will someday house around seventy people in its spacious rooms. In addition, there are study carrels and two large meeting rooms for relaxation and a variety of activities.
After a day it's always a welcome relief to head to our full sized gymnasium for a game of volleyball or basketball. In addition there is a weight room adjacent to the court where you can try the universal weight machine or one of the cardiovascular exercises to keep in top shape. Rain or shine the gymnasium is always available for use!
Speaking of exercise, many of our students enjoy the closeness of Golden Gate Canyon State Park that surrounds us on three sides. Join the many who follow the trails to the top of "Eagle Rock" to get spectacular views of the Continental Divide or take longer hikes on the thirteen miles of hiking paths in the park. In the fall, there is abundant wildlife to be viewed; elk, deer, bear, and bobcat to name a few.
Many of our guests prefer to hike right on the fifty-five acres that comprise Eagle Rock. They will often find themselves drawn to our rustic log prayer chapel on the Southwest end of the property. There, perched on the edge of a plunging ravine of aspen, many have found the peace and solitude to get in touch with the Lord. In the summer, it is a popular place for the humming birds to gather and feed.
